Tronville served as a Key Allied operational and logistical hub during the Spring 1918 German offensive on the Somme in World War I.   Australian Imperial Force units, including the 13th and 15th Australian Infantry Brigades, set up headquarters in and around Blangy-Tronville and its local château in April 1918.  Troops used the area for dugouts, signals coordination, and staging positions to halt the German advance toward Amiens, notably supporting operations around Villers-Bretonneux.
